Jason T. Johns
- Gift, Estate and Fiduciary Taxation
Jason T. Johns, a Senior Director with the Firm, focuses his practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration, as well as gift and estate taxation. Jason provides estate planning services to a wide range of clients with varying estate planning needs. From doctors to librarians, business owners to directors at Fortune 500 companies, taxable estates to non-taxable estates, Jason has the experience necessary to craft estate plans to achieve his clients' unique goals.
He takes a client-centered approach, developing an estate plan for each client that address their specific needs. Jason uses such estate planning techniques as living trusts, powers of attorney, gifts and sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts (IDGTs), generation skipping transfer tax trusts (Dynasty Trusts), irrevocable trusts for spouses (SLATs), family limited liability companies, irrevocable insurance trusts (ILITs), and charitable remainder trusts (CRTs). He also has experience with trust decanting and trust settlement agreements when existing irrevocable trusts cease to serve their purposes.
Jason's interest in estate planning derives from his own personal experience. He was a senior in college when his father, a small business owner, died unexpectedly. From that, Jason learned first-hand the value of estate planning and the need for succession planning for business owners.
Prior to joining Huck Bouma, P.C., Jason was a member with Kelly, Olson, Michod, DeHaan & Richter, L.L.C., a general practice law firm in downtown Chicago.
Jason lives in the Village of Riverside.
